In a liquid level indicating device two compartments 26, 27 in a divided chamber 19 and initially filled with water through a plugged aperture 32, when apertures 28 are covered, and when oil is fed to a tank 2 containing the device the oil bears on the water through the apertures 28 to force the water up a tube 15 to lift a float 3 which actuates bellows 8, 9 of pressure containers 11, 12 connected by a common tube 13 to a manometer 14 graduated in volume units.
