1,076,043. Extrusion machines. OWENSILLINOIS Inc. Sept. 12, 1964, No. 37388/64. Heading B5A. A plasticizer-extruder for thermoplastic material comprises a shearing disc 25 rotatable by a motor M and having protruding fingers 31 which urge the material to be plasticized through a gap of diminishing cross-section between the helical peripheral surface of a boss 18 and the cylindrical wall of a chamber 12, and thence through a narrow gap between the surfaces 27, 28 of the rotating disc 25 and the boss 18, respectively, to an extrusion orifice 17. In an alternative embodiment the material is fed by a rotary screw to a narrow gap between an end face of the screw and the end wall of extruder barrel in which the extrusion orifice is provided.
