Abstract

1,075,424. Filters. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 21, 1964 [April 23, 1963], No. 15959/63. Heading BID. A housing 10 containing a filter element 11 is attached to a head 12 by a bolt 32, and unscrewing of the housing causes both inlet and outlet valves 17, 30 to close, outlet valve 30 being supported by its stem 29 on bolt 32. Inlet valve 17 is of annular form and is held off its seat by a downwardly biassed annular member 19 and pegs 18 thereon, member 19 carrying a seal 22 engaging head 12 and following the edge of housing 10 as it is withdrawn. Valves 17, 30 are closed before the seal between container 10 and disc 19 is broken. The two filters show are connected in parallel in the lubricating oil circuit of a diesel engine, and a by-pass valve may be incorporated.
