Abstract
1,073,313. Work benches. TOYOTA KOKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Dec. 10, 1963 [June 26, 1963], No. 48708/63. Heading B4X. [Also in Division B7] An assembly line for machine tools comprises wheeled bases 2, Fig. 2, running on tracks 3 and each carrying a machine tool bed 1; at each assembly station the base 2 is raised above the tracks and levelled by three bolts 5 each of which is prevented from rotation and is in threaded engagement with a worm-wheel 6 rotated by a worm 7 on shaft 11. A stabilizing bolt 5<SP>1</SP> similar to bolts 5 may be provided at each station. The ends of the shafts 11 are in close proximity for easy operation in turn by a handle d through rod 10 and gears 8, 9. Level vials are arranged on base 2. Limit switches 15 give an indication when the base has been lowered on to the rails after part of the machine tool has been assembled on to the level bed. In Figs. 4, 5, not shown, the base is alternatively suspended by a hoist from a trolley on an overhead railway and is lowered on to and raised from the bolts 5 in the floor.
