Abstract

1,072,424. Electric lighting fittings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 16, 1966 [March 19, 1965], No. 11527/66. Heading F4R. A fitting for an elongated light source consists of a channel-shaped support 2 and a pair of lamp holders 13 detachably connected thereto, one at least of the holders having a hinged flap 14 which, in one position, closes the end of the support 2 and in the other is folded back against the body 17 of the holder so that this can be stowed inside the support. The body of the holder may be in one with the flap, the whole being of synthetic resin having a flexible part forming the hinge. The body 17 is closed by a plate 28 having slots 29 to receive, e.g., the pins of a fluorescent discharge tube, and is formed with a recess at the top, two projections 20 being provided on the upper surface of the recess with a wedge-shaped detent 24 between them. The projections 20 are formed with undercut grooves 21. The support 2 has two slots 5 into which the projections slide, separated by a tongue 6 having an aperture 7 which fits over the detent 24. The upper part of the support is formed with bent-over edges 9, pins 15 on the upyer corners of the flap 14 fitting into the angles between the sides 8 and the bent-over edges 9 of the support. Further bent portions 10, 11 may be provided for securing the support to a mounting rail.
