Abstract
1,72,478. Developers for electrostatic images. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORPORATION, CHARLES BRUNING DIVISION. Aug. 18, 1964 [Sept.10, 1963], No.33681/64. Heading G2H. A developer for developing electrostatic images by magnetic brush method comprises a granular mass including 1 part electroscopic thermoplastic powder and from 5 to 50 parts of magnetically attractable carrier particles. The carrier particles which may be iron, nickel, cobalt-steel, magnetites or ferrites, each having an irregular shaped body of the order of 3 to 20 microns thick with protrusions which facilitate the formation of a bristlelike magnetic brush. The thermoplastic may be any resin, having resistivity greater than 1 x 10" ohm-cm and a softening point between 50‹C. and 140‹C. Examples are polystyrene , acrylic resins, rosin, asphalt, gilsonites, polyvinyl resins. The resins are pigmented or coloured with carbon black or other dyes or pigments.
