Abstract

1,072,452. I. C. engine valve gear, inlet and exhaust passages. D. ODAWARA. Dec.4, 1963 [Dec. 5, 1962], No.47892/63. Heading F1B. In an I. C. engine in which suction and exhaust switching valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, and 17, 17<SP>1</SP> are located at the extremities of suction and exhaust passages 5, 6 joined by a common passage 14, mushroom sealing valves 7, 7<SP>1</SP> are operated in unison to control both inlet and exhaust the combustion chamber. Operation. During the induction stroke sealing valves 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and suction switching valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are open and exhaust switches valves 17, 17 are closed. At the end of the induction stroke sealing valves 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and switching valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> close and the charge is compressed and combusted. On the exhaust stroke sealing valves 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and switching valves 17, 17<SP>1</SP> are open to discharge the exhaust ports.
