Abstract

1,072,317. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. FLEISSISTER G.m.b.H March 10, 1965 [March 11, 1964], No. 10090/65. Heading B5K. A screen fabric covering for a drum is provided by folding over end regions 4 of the screen fabric to be joined, drawing out weft or warp filaments from the fold regions to form loops, positioning the loops of each region in staggered, aligned relationship and inserting a rod-shaped member 5. through the aligned loops. Preferably, the screen fabric is wrapped around the drum to be covered prior to insertion of the member 5 so that the folds are underfolds. The screen fabric may be made of a material susceptible to heat shrinkage and the drum is heated before and/or after insertion of the member 5 by being placed in a hot waterbath or hot air chamber. Alternatively, the material may be shrinkable on cooling. Polyester, polyacrylonitrile and nylon material are specified. A plastics material coatings may be applied on or in the fabric in the vicinity of the fold regions.
