A transport container 10 for bulk materials has two bottom doors 18 which are held closed by lifting chains or cables which are attached to laterally projecting lugs 22 on the doors. The container is set down over an emptying space and supported brackets 20, further lowering of the lifting means allows the doors to open. The chains or cables are normally attached to a lifting beam which may be housed in a recess 32. Corner plates (26), Fig. 4 (not shown), prevent material from lodging on the edges of the doors when they are open.
