Abstract

1,070,813. Read-only stores. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. July 2, 1965 [July 9, 1964], No. 28074/65. Heading G4A. [Also in Division H4] A read-only store for reading out multidigit numbers comprises, as shown (Fig. 1), a set of magnetic cores K1 to Kn, one per digit place of the numbers to be dealt with, a set of code wires G1 to Gp for each number to be dealt with, the wires of each set being selectively threaded through the cores (indicated by diagonal bars) according to the values of the digits to be stored (the wires of each set being weighted 1, 2, 4, 8 respectively), selection means as for example multi-contact switches S1 to Sp for selecting the code wire set of the number to be read out and for connecting same to output means L1 to L4, an interrogate winding per core (the plural turn windings being indicated by double diagonal bars) and means such as switches r1 to rn for applying an interrogate pulse to the cores as required. The digital sequence of the wanted codes may be tapped as pulse trains at the cathodes of the diodes Ds. The cores K1 to Kn need not be closed rings. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the interrogation arrangement is modified in that all the interrogate windings receive pulses in common but, by means of switches KU1 to KU4 actuated by a binary counter, all but one of the cores is saturated so that no output signal is generated from them. Individual digits of numbers may be read-out if required. The store is said to have applications in telecommunications.
