Abstract
N-Oxides of the pyridine series are prepared by gradually introducing an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide into a boiling mixture of pyridine or one of its alkyl derivatives and acetic acid in the presence of a solvent forming an azeotropic mixture with water, and constantly distilling off the water present or formed in the reaction mixture by means of the solvent.
