A fastening device suitable for use in holding scientific apparatus in fixed positions includes an elongated strip 1 formed with at least two apertures and corresponding clipping or clamping members 4 adjustably mounted on the strip by means of said apertures and means to enable the device to be connected to a stand or holder, said means taking the form of a rod 8 rigidly secured to the strip so as to project from the latter. In the construction shown clips 4 are provided and there are two holes one of which is circular and the other of which is elongated. The spring clips 4 are attached to the strip by means of screws 5 passing through the holes and secured by nuts 6. The thumb nuts shown can be replaced by wing nuts and the strip instead of being flat can be curved and can mount more than two clips or clamps.
