Abstract

A coating composition which is able to acquire and retain adhesive power in a humid environment comprises a solution of tannic acid in a volatile solvent. The composition may also comprise polyvinyl ether. The proportion of polyvinyl ether in the composition may be between 1 and 20% by wt. of the tannic acid. The composition may comprise 40% by wt. pure tannic acid, 2% by wt. polyvinyl ether and 58% by wt. 95% ethyl alcohol.ALSO:A coating composition which is able to acquire and retain adhesive power in a humid environment comprises polyvinyl ether, tannic acid and a volatile solvent. The proportion of polyvinyl ether in the composition may be between 1 and 20% by wt. of the tannic acid. The composition may comprise 40% by wt. pure tannic acid, 2% by wt. polyvinyl ether and 58% by wt. 95% ethyl alcohol.ALSO:A wrapping material comprises a metal foil e.g. paper having aluminium foil on both surfaces, coated on the portions which overlap when the material is wrapped around an article with a composition which is able to acquire and retain adhesive power in a humid environment. The composition may comprise a solution of tannic acid in a volatile solvent. The composition may also comprise polyvinyl ether. The proportion of polyvinyl ether in the composition may be between 1 and 20% by wt. of the tannic acid. The composition may comprise 40% by wt. pure tannic acid, 2% by wt. polyvinyl ether, and 58% by wt. 95% ethyl alcohol. The article to be covered may be able to cause humidity in the environment of the wrapper e.g. butter.
