Abstract
1,068,068. Measuring fluid flow. A.J. SIPIN. July 24, 1964, No.29807/64. Heading G1R. In a mass flowmeter a length of tube 18, supported on flat springs 19, 20 between an inlet port 14 and an outlet port 16, is vibrated by a vibration driving coil 11 and the vibration velocity is sensed by a coil 12, the mass flow rate is then computed from readings of an ammeter 3 in circuit with the coil 11 on a voltage phasemeter 7. In a further embodiment the oscillatory tube is secured at one end and oscillated at the other end. In yet a further embodiment a pair of coaxial pipes are arranged tandem, the upstream tube being oscillated by vibration of the downstream tube to give an indication of fluid flow. In yet a further embodiment the tube is oscillated by a pivoted support lever and the devices sensing the motion of the tube is arranged below the tube.
