Abstract

Warp is prepared for weaving or warp knitting by slitting a sheet of plastics material into a plurality of filaments, drawing the filaments to impart a permanent extension thereto and winding the filaments onto a beam. Two or more sheets from one beam may be simultaneously slit and the slip filaments may be crimped before winding onto the beam. Various methods of slitting are described.
