Abstract

The nickel complex of a 3-acylamino-1,2,4triazole of formula <FORM:1066304/C2/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen or alkyl and alk is alkyl, is formed by reacting the 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole with an appropriate acid chloride to form I and then reacting this with e.g. nickel acetate.ALSO:Stabilized polymeric compositions comprise a polymer of a 1,2-monoepoxide in admixture with a novel stabilizing composition consisting of (a) a nickel complex of a compound of formula <FORM:1066304/C3/1> (b) a compound of formula <FORM:1066304/C3/2> and (c) a compound of formula R4SnR5, wherein R1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical, alk is an alkyl radical, A is -S- or -CH2-, R2 and R3 are C1- 4 alkyl radicals, n is 1-4 and R4 and R5 are alkyl radicals or a -(CH2)m -COOR6 group, wherein R6 is an alkyl radical and m is 1-4. The polymer of the 1,2-monoepoxide may be a homo- or a copolymer of 1,2-monoepoxides. The stabilized polymers may be dissolved or swelled and cross-linking agents may be added. Inactive soots, light-coloured fillers, dyes or pigments, extender oils or lubricators may also be added.
