Abstract

1,065,950. Packaging; containers. O. W. CHRISTENSSON. Sept. 10, 1965 [Oct. 13. 1964], No. 38701/65. Headings B8C and B8P. A plastic cover 27 (Fig. 3) is heat-drawn on to a filled cup-formed package having a plastics liner 23<SP>1</SP>. The cover may be formed so as to be in contact with an outwardly extending flange 26 integral with the liner 23<SP>1</SP>, a grip tongue 30 being provided to facilitate removal of the cover, which may be secured to the liner by heat-sealing, gluing or pasting or simply by a grip fit. The cover may be drawn on to the package mouth during heating by a plunger, or by use of vacuum or air under pressure. The heating of the cover material may take place either before or after placing it over the package mouth. An aluminium foil 32 over the contents 33 of the package protects the said contents from the heat involved in the covering process. The container of the package comprises a blank of cardboard &c. (Fig. 1, not shown), shaped so that, on folding, vents are formed at the bottom corners (Fig. 2, not shown), to facilitate withdrawal of air so as to draw the liner 23<SP>1</SP> into contact with the container walls.
