A tubular element formed as claimed in Specification 1,009,297 from one or more thin flexible strips by curving them so that recesses and projecting portions preformed along their edges interlock, is characterized in the present Specification by the strip in the free state having been subjected to pre-bending about a longitudinal axis so that its radius of curvature is such that the deformation of the strip remains within the elastic range of its material both when the strip is coiled flat on to a drum and when the strip is assembled into a tube.
