[Also in Division B8] A gummed tape applying device has a hand grip 30, a final pressure applying roll 95, and shears 83, 84 the movable blade 84 of which cuts the tape T on the tape supply side of a tape moistening brush 86 and' is moved out of the cutting position by a handle 62 into the position shown wherein it is held by a releasable thumb latch 78. A tape roll 32 is supported on a shaft 46 and has a spring loaded brake shoe 42. The tape T passes under a guide roll 48 through an opening in a housing top plate 16 over rollers 52, between a roller 98 and a knurled tape feeding disc 75, past the stationary blade 83 of the shears, and the brush 86 to the underside of the pressure roll 95. The movable blade 84 is carried by arms 60 carried on the same shaft 58 as the rollers 52 and movable to the position shown in Fig. 4 by the handle 62 against coiled torsion springs in the rollers 52, this movement being limited by pins 64 in slots 65. This same movement also operates the tape feeding disc 75 by means of a cord 85 attached to one of the arms 60 and wound on a spool (80) Fig. 6 (not shown) on a shaft (67) to which the disc 75 is connected by a spring ratchet (70). On releasing the latch from a projection 87 the blade 84 moves to sever the tape and the ratchet spring (70) release the disc 75 from the shaft (67) so that the tape is not. wound back again. The brush 86 is arranged in a removable water storage container 88.
