Abstract

1,064,191. Slidable folding doors; flexible hinges. PANELFOLD DOORS Inc. Feb. 28, 1964, No. 8439/64. Headings E1J and E2F. In a sliding folding door each panel 66 is flexibly connected on each side rigid strip 64 by means of thin flexible vinyl strips 76 and the panels supported from a guide track in known manner. The rigid strip may be in two parts 72, 74 sandwiching the continuous flexible strip 76 therebetween the two ends of the strip 76 having enlarged ends 78 and received in grooves 80 and the enlargements 82 thereof in the panels 66. The strip 76 may have a lateral rib on each side (Fig. 8, not shown) which is received in a correspondinly shaped groove in each of the parts 72, 74. The strip 76 and the rigid strip 72, 74 may be moulded in one piece from resilient vinyl material Figs. 5, 9 (not shown). The picket is provided on its edge faces with recesses to receive the end edges of the panels 66 in the closed position.
