Abstract
The invention comprises the compounds: 4 - methylamino - 2 - hydroxyaniline, 2 - di-methylamino - 4 - aminophenol, 2 - methoxy-4 - aminophenol, 2 - methyl- and 2 - dimethylamino - 4 - hydroxyaniline, 4 - methyl- and 4 - dimethyl - amino - o - phenylene - diamine, 2 - methylamino - p - phenylenediamine and acid addition salts thereof. They may be obtained by hydrogenation or catalytic hydrogenation from suitable nitro-compounds. Examples are given.ALSO:Hair or other keratinous material is dyed using an aqueous solution of one or more of the following compounds: 4-methoxy-catechol, 4-methoxy-2-hydroxy-aniline, 4-methylamino-2-hydroxy-aniline, 4-methoxy-o-phenylenediamine, 4-methylamino-o-phenylenediamine, 4-dimethylamino-o-phenylenediamine, 2-methoxy-hydroquinone, 2-methoxy-4-aminophenol, 2-dimethylamino-4-aminophenol 2-methylamino-p-phenylenediamine, 2-dimethylamino-4-hydroxyaniline and acid addition salts thereof together with a surfactant and/or a thickener and/or a solvent and/or a preservative and/or an antioxidant and/or a pH stabilizer. The preparation may also contain a direct nitro dye. The oxidation of said compounds may be assisted, e.g. with H2O2. Examples are given.
