Abstract

<PICT:1063612/C6-C7/1> Apparatus for depositing an anti-refloating layer on at least part of at least one side of a vehicle windscreen, comprises a chamber 1 with a seal 2 for engaging windscreen 12, the chamber being partially evacuated by connection through cock 8 with a reservoir 5 and, then with cock 8 closed, being further evacuated by pump 9. An electric evaporator 3 containing the material 4 to be deposited on the windscreen, e.g. magnesium or calcium fluoride, is then heated. After deposition cock 8 is rotated to connect the chamber to atmosphere. The chamber may have several evaporators for depositing different metals, Fig.2 (not shown), and several chambers can be applied to each side of the windscreen at the same time.
