Abstract
1,062,203. Disulphonated aroylacetarylides. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. July 6, 1964 [July 9, 1963], No. 27734/64. Heading. C2C. [Also in Division G2] The invention comprises aroylacetarylide colour couplers for yellow, having at least one sulphonic acid group in the aroyl part of the molecule and at least one sulphonic acid group in the arylide part of the molecule. Preferred compounds have the formula wherein R 2 and R 3 are H or, e.g., Cl, C 16 H 33 O- or C 16 H 33 S- (compounds 1-10); the benzene ring -CO bond may be replaced by, e.g. a 4- formamidophenyl group (compound 11) and the NH-benzene ring bond by, e.g., a phenyl-3- sulphonamido group (compounds 12, 13). These compounds are prepared by alkaline hydrolysis of the disulphonyl fluorides which are generally obtained by reacting FO 2 S-C 6 H 3 (R 2 )COCH.- CO 2 Et with H 2 NC 6 H 3 (R 3 )SO 2 F.
