Abstract

106,218. Wallace, S. C., and Alberts, G. Sept. 26, 1916. Materials, special, for boxes; fittings, internal; lids and covers.-A crate for transmitting eggs &c. by post or otherwise comprises outer and inner casings 1, 2 constructed of coarsely-woven textile fabric or wire fabric, the material, if textile, being in some cases dipped in a solution that stiffens it to enable it to retain the desired rectangular, cylin. drical, or other shape. The inner casing is open at the top to receive a box of eggs &c., the box being retained by a bent wire clamp 11 hinged at one side of the casing and engaging over the other side. Coil springs 13 extend from the corners of the outer casing to those of the inner casing, so as to hold the casings spaced from one another and to take up vibration. The closure 3 of the outer casing has a flange 5 and telescopes into the casing, the closure having strap hinges 4 and being secured by a strap 7. The inner casing may be of closer weave than the outer.
