Abstract
1,062,025. Illuminated ceilings. G. A. BARTENBACH G.m.b.H. Nov. 5, 1963, No. 43631/63. Heading F4R. An illuminated ceiling comprises a number of discharge tubes disposed above an anti-dazzle system which substantially fills the horizontal cross-section of the room and consists of a series of intersecting vertical surfaces through the intermediate gaps of which the discharge tubes, when viewed in directions parallel to the intersecting surfaces, can only be seen at angles of over 58 degrees to the horizontal. The surfaces, which are opaque, are spaced from the centres of the discharge tubes by distances not less than the diameter of the tubes, and the horizontal separation of the surfaces is at least four times the diameter of the tubes. The distances between the tubes, and the depth of the surfaces, are such that any point on any tube is only visible through those openings in the anti-dazzle system which are situated immediately beneath it or, if the tube is disposed vertically above a surface of the system, through those openings which are immediately adjacent the surface. The surfaces may be given different colours or different reflective powers. If the tubes are mounted in reflector fittings the arrangement may be such that the reflectors, as well as the tubes, can only be seen at angles of over 58 degrees.
