Abstract

1,061,012. Feeding sheets. TILLOTSONS (LIVERPOOL) Ltd. Oct. 3, 1963 [July 4, 1962], No. 38308/63. Heading B6B. [Also in Division B8] In a packaging machine, sleeves or cartons 24 are stored in a magazine 26 in a flattened condition from which they are withdrawn as required by suction grippers 28 mounted on a pivotable arm 64. The movements of the arm 64 are controlled by a cam 68 mounted on a shaft 46 which is connected by a chain 104 to the tip mechanism 100. The tip mechanism denoting presence of a package is actuated by a lever 106 through a connecting link 108 and operates valves 110 in the suction lines 112 to the suction cups 28. In the embodiment described, a duplex arrangement is shown, the two sides working in synchronization. The withdrawn sleeves 24 are fed by pushers 20 on a conveyer chain 36.
