Abstract

1,060,992. Impedance networks. NORTH ATLANTIC INDUSTRIES Inc. Feb. 18, 1964, No. 6755/64. Heading H3U. Compensation is provided in a 90-degrees phase-shifting circuit as disclosed in Specification 1,060,991 for the residual variation in phase with frequency by the provision of a further network to the input of which the output of the phase-shifter is applied and comprising a phaselead network 8 and a phase-lag network, the outputs of which are combined, for example, in an adding network 10. Thus, a suitable network is shown in Fig. 6; by a suitable choice of component values the output e 0 can be made to be in phase with the input e 5 at a frequency which may be made to equal the centre frequency of the preceding phase-shifter and it may be shown that the phase varies with frequency over a limited frequency band in a direction so as to compensate for the phase variation in the phase-shifter. Modified phase lag and phase lead circuits using either a second resistor or a second capacitor and further modifications in which such circuits are compounded with their duals are described. Fig. 13 (not shown) illustrates a modification in which the adding network 10 is eliminated by merging the phase lead circuit 13, 14, 25 (Fig. 5) with the phase lag circuit 15, 16, 27 between common input and output terminals. Alternative forms of merged circuits are also described.
