The insulating body of a plug-and-socket type connector includes a strip 1 of dielectric material bent into an undulated form such as a square wave form (Fig. 1), the spaces 1a, 1b between pairs of parallel walls forming contactaccommodating chambers. A number of such strips are attached together, the undulation ridges in one strip bridging the undulation grooves in an adjacent strip, to form enclosed chambers. Flat strips 5 of dielectric may be rigidly attached along the sides of the strips 1 in between adjacent strips. The contacts 2 which are cylindrical bushes, are retained in position by tongues 3, Fig. 1, which are pressed out from, or moulded on to, the walls of the bent strips, and which lock into grooves 4 in the bushes 2. The bent strips 1 may also be of a sinusoidal form (Fig. 4, not shown), of triangular form (Fig. 5, not shown) or of a form having S-shaped walls between each opposing ridge (Fig. 6, not shown). The strips may be formed by bending from a flat strip by extrusion or by moulding. In the triangular structure the flat strips 5 are preferably omitted, due to the considerable overlap of the ridge portions.
