Abstract

1,060,489. Mineral-mining machines. MAVOR & COULSON Ltd. Nov. 29, 1963 [Dec. 11, 1962], No. 46644/62. Heading E1F. To allow of mined mineral being loaded by a mining machine into a conveyer along the side of which the machine is guided the cutter chain is so arranged to circulate around a forwardly directed jib that of the two outer parallel runs of the chain the run on that side adjacent the buttock of a face being cut by the machine moves forwardly at floor level to cut and convey mineral towards the exposed face and then along the rear of the iib for loading into the conveyer. The jib is of cranked formation horizontally and the leading arm of such a jib can be power pivoted about a horizontal pivot by which it is connected to the rear part of the jib. A cutter drum, a cutter bar, or wedge means may be mounted on the front part of the jib.
