Abstract

1,058,997. Discharging from aircraft. M.L. AVIATION CO. Ltd. Oct., 14. 1965 [Oct. 20, 1964], No. 42766/64. Heading F3C. An ejection apparatus for releasing and projecting an object 7 from an aircraft comprises two ejection guns 1, 2, the object 7 being held in position by latch members which are controlled by a linkage. Each ejection gun includes two cylinders 11, 12 located within a cylindrical casing 13 and being capable of sliding movement relative to the casing and to each other. The inner cylinder 11 is closed at its outer end and is provided with a central tube 16 extending from the closed end adjacent which 'it is provided with one or more ports 17, its other end being formed with a throttling member 18. The central tube 16 is a sliding fit within a further tube 20 which extends from the easing 13 and is in communication with a source of pressure gas as from the firing of two cartridges 38. The linkage comprises two sets of links 30, 31 and 32, 33 each connected at their outer ends to one of the latch members 4 and at their inner ends to a shaft 35. The shaft 35 is rotated to actuate the linkage through a gun 37 and a bellerank lever 36, the gun being operated by the source of pressure gas. A safety catch 41 holds the linkage in its object supporting position but when released by an electrically energized actuator 44 the linkage may be operated by the grin 37. The actuator also operates through linkages 55, 56, 57 two transversely sliding shut-off members 53, one of which is associated with each gun. Thus when the safety catch is in its holding position the gun 37 cannot be operated and pressure gas cannot be fed into either of the ejection guns 1, 2.
