Abstract
1,058,493. Extruding laminated tubes and tubular films. NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Oct. 1, 1964 [Oct. 2, 1963], No. 40035/64. Headings B5A and B5B. A die for melt extruding laminated tubes and tubular films comprises a central core 10 (Fig. 2, not shown), within an outer die body 11. An inner ring 14 and outer ring 15 are mounted on mandrel 10 and outer body 11 respectively to define a circular die orifice 16. Orifice 16 communicates with a channel 17 of annular cross-section. Molten plastic is forced under pressure from a first extruder 30 through web 18 into the bottom of channel 17. Two additional molten plastics are injected into the die through channels 31 and 32 respectively from second and third extruders 33 and 34. Channels 31 and 32 communicate with annular ducts 35 and 36 respectively which in turn communicate with the outside of channel 17 at different levels. A gas is introduced under pressure into the interior of the extruded laminated film through the duct 37 in mandrel 10.
