Abstract
105,814. Ramage, A. G. May 18, 1916. Hulls.-In freight-carrying vessels of the kind having a mid-ship section 2 of rectangular or substantially rectangular form, the flat vertical sides extend wedge-like, as at 3, 5, in straight lines from the mid-ship section to the stem and the stern, respectively. The lower edge of each of the angled sides 3, 5 is bevelled as at 4, 6. The stern is built with a recess beneath the water line for the housing of the propeller and rudder, as shown in Fig. 3, the top 7 of the recess being horizontal, whilst the forward face 8 is flat and arranged at about 45 degrees. The edges may be bevelled as at 9. Variations may, however, be made in the bevelling arrangement at the stem and stern.
