Abstract

1,058,010. Cleaning of -air-filters. F. ROPOHL. Dec. 20, 1965 [Jan. 20, 1965], No. 53878/65. Heading BIT. A flat, felt filter is removed from its mounting in a ventilation plant and cleaned by vibration and reverse flow of air in a closed circuit, as shown, in which a blower 6 draws air from the downward, normally upstream, face of the filter and the dist removed therefrom is collected by an elastorstaic precipitator 7. Periodically, when blower 6 is switched off, means, not shown, rinse the precipitator electrodes with water and collected dust is subsequently separated from the rinse water for disposal. The filter is clamped to a frame I, mounted on springs 11 and vibrated by variable-frequency device 13, during reverse flow. A vertically adjustable hood 4 closes the circuit with the filter in place. The duct crosssections vary to ensure a maximum flow rate, exceeding 1 m/5, through the filter and a minimum flow rate through precipitator 7. The filter being cleaned may be multi-layered and contaminated by radio active dust. The circuit may include a replaceable fine filter 10.
