Abstract

A process for cleaning rigid articles by contacting them with a cleaning bath containing an aqueous concentrate of non-ionic wetting and/or anti-foaming agents and water soluble organic acids or acid salts thereof which form complexes with substances which cause hardness in water, together with sufficient alkali-containing agent to give the pH a value above 11. Lower aliphatic alcohols may be included as solvents and inorganic acids such as sulphuric acid may also be added.
