In a continuous casting process, relative rotation is effected between the mould and the solidified metal therein. The mould may be rotated, and when the casting is a tube the internal core may also be rotated, relative to the casting. The rotation may be reciprocatory, continuous or intermittent. The mould may be carried by a rotary cam which also imparts an axial movement.
