Abstract

1,056,691. Folding bedsteads; on-and-off castors. W. STEEL & CO. Ltd. Dec. 30, 1964 [Jan. 2, 1964; Jan. 28, 1964], Nos. 270/64 and 3527/64. Headings A4J and A4U. A folding bed comprises a frame assembly having two outer sections 2, 3 pivotally connected at 7 on respective sides of a centre section 1 for upward folding from an open position in which the sections are aligned. An inner pair of legs 8 are pivoted at 14 on the centre section and an outer pair of legs 9 are pivoted at 10 on respective outer sections 2, 3. Links 12 are pivoted to legs 8 and to adjacent outer frame sections 2, 3 and links 11 connect inner and outer legs 8, 9 so that the free ends of legs 9 are maintained outwards of pivot axes 10 and the free ends of legs 8 are maintained inwards of pivot axes 14 in the open position of the bed. When the bed is folded, Fig. 2 (not shown) legs 8, 9 are substantially parallel to the outer frame. Castors 45 are provided to support the bed in folded position.
