Apparatus for trimming or shaping the edge of a workpiece 22, Figs. 1-3 (not shown), comprises an arm mounted on a pivot 3 and carrying a disc cutter &C 9, a work-carriage 19 on a turntable 18, and guides 21 movable along a curved track 13 during rotation of the turntable to cause translational movements of the rotating carriage. A roller 21 at each end of the carriage 19 engages a stationary cam 13 to effect translational movements of the rotating carriage in bearings 30, 32 on the turntable. The rotating disc-cutter 9 is positioned by a fluid-pressure cylinder 4, -with a stop-disc 10 beneath the cutter bearing against a plate 24 beneath the work-supporting cutting-blade 23. A fluid pressure clamp 25 holds the work against blade 23.
