Abstract
1,056,280. Stripping insulation. PERMARK SERVICE Ltd. Oct. 18, 1963 [Oct. 30, 1962], No. 40982/62. Heading H2C. [Also in Divisions B4 and E2] Pliers for cutting wire and stripping insulation therefrom have jaws 17, 18 which carry two co-operating stripper cutting blades 35, 36 each provided with a notch which cuts the sheathing and two additional blades 30, 31 having notches which cut through both sheathing and wire. The blades 35, 36 are carried by screws 37, 38 which are mounted in slots 34 in the jaws which allow the blades 35, 36 to be adjusted towards or away from one another and towards or away from the blades 30, 31. The meeting plane 32 of the blades 30, 31 is at an angle of between 30 and 80 degrees to the pivotal axis 3. In a modification the blades 30, 31 are stripper blades and the blades 35, 36 severing blades. In another modification the jaws are channel-shaped to form guides for the blades, the blades 30 and 31 being in a plane parallel to the pivotal axis, each blade of a pair having two V-shaped notches. The approach of the handles is limited by a stop screw 40.
