A type bar guide A for a typewriter is mounted on a spring blade D, the ends of which are attached integrally to a member E adapted for securing to the type bar basket (not shown). On depression of a key lever the type bar displaces the type bar guide A towards the platen C, the resilience of the spring blade D repulsing the type bar after impression.
