Abstract

Coins of various denominations are fed to a sorter 3 to fall down appropriate denomination shoots 5. Passage of a coin past a sensing head 6 disturbs an electromagnetic or capacitative field to produce an impulse which advances an electromagnetic or electronic counter. Each shoot may be of plastics material and the sensing head 6 is adjustable on the shoot so that its field centre line coincides with equal distances of coin and gap if the coins are contiguous.
