[Also in Division D1] A printing machine suitable for printing strips or webs of fabric, leather, paper or wood comprises a trough 1 filled with water or organic solvent 2 equipped with cleaning brushes 3 in which the wetting cylinder 4 which also serves as backing cylinder rotates and, driven in synchronism with the cylinder 4, is a transfer cylinder 5 carrying a pattern member 6 which consists of solid soluble dye elements between which cylinders passes the strip 9 of material to be printed. In a modification a further backing cylinder 10 is provided.
