Abstract
1,052,455. Magnetic compositions. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. June 19, 1963 [June 25, 1962], No. 24344/63. Heading H1H. A ferromagnetic manganese zinc ferrite having a maximum permeability greater than 8000 and a ratio of maximum permeability to initial permeability of about 3 to 4 includes one of the following oxides or oxide mixtures. 0À2 to 0À6% by weight of calcium oxide or 0À07 to 0À35% by weight of strontium oxide or 0.02 to 0À08% by weight of barium oxide or 0À03 to 0À07% by weight of silicon dioxide or 0À1 to 0À4% by weight of a mixture of equal parts by weight of strontium oxide, lanthanum oxide, niobium oxide and antimony oxide or 0À1 to 0À4% by weight of a mixture of equal parts by weight of strontium oxide, lanthanum oxide, niobium oxide, antimony oxide, and vanadium oxide and is coarsely crystalline, at least 5% of the crystal grains having a size from 50 to 600 microns. In preparation the main materials which may comprise 50-60 mol. per cent Fe 2 O 3 , 20-45 mol. per cent Mn 3 O 4 and 5-30 mol. per cent ZnO, are presintered at 900‹ C. for one hour. The product is mixed with the addition, ground, pressed into shape, sintered at about 1280‹ C. for 3-12 hours in N 2 or N 2 containing 7% O 2 , and cooled at 100‹ C. per hour. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 776,710.
