Abstract

1,051,756. Extruding thermoplastic tubing. DOW CHEMICAL CO. April 24, 1964 [May 3, 1963], No. 17143/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] A hollow cylindrical thermoplastic resinous article is formed by extruding a heat plastified thermoplastic resinous material through an annular die and rotating the material during extrusion in such manner that at least one surface of the article has a molecular orientation in a generally helical pattern. The extrusion may be effected through a die 24 (Fig. 1, not shown) having a mandrel 18, the die and the mandrel being rotated oppositely, or one may be stationary and the other rotated.
