Abstract
1,051,303. Thermometers. F. MILLER. June 30, 1965 [June 30, 1964], No. 26891/64. Heading G1D. A bi-metallic dial type thermometer comprises a movable pointer 3 or dial carried by a rotatable spindle 4 to which is fixed the inner end of a bi-metallic coil 6 the outer end of which is anchored to a bracket 7 which is rotatable about the spindle and which is mechanically coupled to an arm or plate 20 rotatably mounted on the back wall 16 of the casing and operable from the exterior of the casing by means of a nut 18 to adjust the pointer or dial setting. In the embodiment shown a pointer 3 moves over a fixed graduated dial 2. One arm 9 of the bracket 7 is coupled to the plate 20 by means of a slot and lug connection, the plate 20 being rigidly fixed to nut 18, the other arm 8 having fixed thereto the bi-metallic coil. The coupling may be formed by projections 25 Fig. 6 (not shown) projecting from plate 23 which engage the arm 9. In this embodiment the plate 23 is rotated by engaging a suitable tool in one of a series of spaced holes 27 Fig. 5 (not shown).
