Abstract

1,051,192. Feeding workpieces to presses and the like. E. SCHWARZ. March 11, 1964 [May 11, 1963], No. 10283/64. Heading B3H. A workpiece feed mechanism for a press or the like has at least one pair of grippers 25 movable transversely to grip a workpiece and then transfer it longitudinally, the grippers being mounted on bars 24 supported for transverse movement on extensions 15 of a main slide 12 operated by driving means 14 for producing the longitudinal movement, and the bars having inwardly projecting fingers 17 engaging in guide slots 19 of a further slide 21 mounted in the main slide 12 and operated by separate driving means 23 for producing the transverse movement. Main slide 12 is reciprocated on guides 11 of a casing 10 by a pneumatic motor 14; the further slide 21 is reciprocated on guides 20 of the main slide by a pneumatic motor 23. Workpieces 29 are fed individually from a magazine 30 by tongue 27 carried by the main slide 12. The feed mechanism is secured by bracket 31 to a press frame 32.
