Abstract
1,050,306. Detecting neutrons. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. April 29, 1965 [April 29, 1964; June 16, 1964], No. 18171/65. Heading G6P. A neutron flux measuring arrangement employing ionisation chambers is provided with a component testing circuit which may be employed without the prior isolation of the component under test. Each component, e.g. a trigger circuit, has both an information signal and an opposing threshold signal applied to it. Under the present arrangement these are left undisturbed while a further test voltage is applied which is automatically developed from the information and threshold signals, through a separate amplifier. In an alternative form the test voltage is developed from a combination of the information and threshold signals with a third, adjustable, voltage. To prevent the operation of the control system energized from the component under test, the test voltage is given a pulsed profile, the period of which is less than the time-constant of the control system.
