Abstract
1,050,025. Vibration-dampers. MacLELLAN RUBBER Ltd. Sept. 14, 1965 [Oct. 29, 1964], No. 44086/64. Heading F 2 S, [Also in Divisions F4 and H1] An anti-vibration and stiffening device for a multi-tube radiator, e.g. of a transformer, comprises a rectangular block of rubber 1 with a reinforcement spine 2 made e.g. of strip steel, or other metal, longitudinally-spaced notches 4 being provided along both sides of the device adapted to receive the particular shape of tube 3 involved. The materials of the device are chosen to be weather and oil resistant and the device is clamped in position between two rows of tubes 3 by means of rods 5 and clamping plates 6. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), notches 4 are provided along one side only of the block. In a further modification the block is provided with two spines which may be spaced apart sufficiently to accommodate holes for the fixing rods 5. In other forms the device comprises laminations of rubber with fabric, plastics, wire mesh, or cords. The rubber could be replaced by cork. In another arrangement the reinforcement spine, extending virtually over the whole width of the block, has the notches extending into it. The spine may be replaced by a circular rod, Fig. 14, not shown.
