Abstract
1,049,759. Loading bay ramps. AMERICAN WELDING & ENGINEERING CO. Inc. Nov. 4, 1963 [Nov. 6, 1962], No. 43386/63. Heading B8E. A loading bay ramp 25 with a deck plate 26 is pivoted at 24 to standards 23 of a frame 22 in a concrete dock 22. The ramp is urged upwards by torsion bars having downturned ends 131, 138 fitting in sockets 130, 139 at opposite lateral margins of the ramp and crossing over the ramp to engage it respectively at the opposite lateral margins where forwardly turned ends 135 may be provided with a tubular extension 137. A ramp check 41 allows depression of the ramp but prevents it rising until released by a lanyard 221 provided with a ring engaging a recess in the deck plate 26. A lip 66 is pivoted at 67 to the deck and as it rises a line 204 acting on a lever 201 raises it' relative to the deck. - A latch is provided to hold the lip in its extended position until it is released by depression of a button provided on the deck. A modified ramp check is described incorporating a pawl and ratchet. In the cross traffic position shown the lip prevents depression of the ramp by its engagement of lugs while adjustable down stops prevent depression when the lip is latched in its raised position.
