Abstract

The invention comprises (I) compounds of general formula <FORM:1049330/C2/1> wherein Ar is aryl, X is chloric or bromine, and R1 and R2 are hydrogen, lower (i.e. C1- 5) alkyl or lower alkoxy; (II) the preparation of compounds A by treating a compound of formula <FORM:1049330/C2/2> with a halogenating agent; (III) the preparation of compounds of general formula <FORM:1049330/C2/3> either by treating compounds A with a base or by treating compounds B with an oxidizing agent. N - phenyl arylamidines B are prepared from anilines and aryl nitriles with aluminium chloride. Veterinary compositions (e.g. as a drench, bolus or animal food) containing compounds C are mentioned for use against helminthiasis.
