Abstract

1,049,139. Vehicle suspension. M. G. BILHERAN. May 26, 1965 [May 26, 1964], No. 22398/65. Heading B7D. A motor vehicle suspension comprises an arm 9, upon which the wheel 13 is carried by means of a stub axle 12, pivoted to a fixed spindle 3. A plate 4 is fixed to the spindle 3, and to a fixed pin 5, on one side of the arm 9 and a similar spacer plate is arranged on the other side of the arm, which, between the plates is rigid with a plate 11 to which is bonded a rubber block 17 which is also bonded to a plate 16 pivoted to the pin 5. When the arm 9 pivots about the spindle 3, the plate 16 pivots about the pin 5 in a manner such that plates 11 and 16 remain parallel, but the block 17 becomes compressed. In a modification, an additional pin, coplanar with and parallel to pins 3 and 5 is fixed to the vehicle and has pivoted thereto a plate which is bonded to rubber blocks which are bonded to the plates 11 and 16 (Fig. 4, not shown).
